Dapper Day – November 2016

img_7913A few years ago I came across an instagram photo from a Disney World Dapper Day event. I was instantly smitten with the idea of a fancy outing at the Disney Parks. A few of our friends attended the Magic Kingdom event last spring, and after seeing their photos Ray and I decided to attend the next Dapper Day outing.
Well, we had that opportunity last weekend! Ray and I, along with our friends Kristi, Nathan, Lacey, Sara, Josh, Katie, and TJ, made our way to Epcot is our dapperest (and somewhat patriotic) attire. Here are a few snapshots from the day:img_7903img_7933img_7961img_7914img_7946img_7962(photo credit : Kristi…or maybe Nathan since Kristi is in the photo. lol)

What a great weekend! Not only were we able to celebrate Dapper Day, we were also visiting Epcot during their Food and Wine Festival. We visited last year during the festival and I blogged about it here. For me, the stand out food this year were the hummus fries from Morocco, cheddar soup from Canada, peanut butter and white chocolate mousse from The Chew, schinkennudeln from Germany, and pescado con coco from Islands of the Carribean! I can’t wait to go to the Spring Dapper Day event!

September & October 2016 Favorites

Taking a moment today to share a few things I’ve been loving recently.
faves-2Rtic water bottle (and the generic Walmart version as well)
Taking a  – A few months ago Ray mentioned that he would probably drink more water if he had a cup that would keep it cold. I immediately ordered him an Rtic cup and he’s used it every day since it arrived. I bought one for myself a few weeks later! These cups are great!

faves-1Fisherman’s Friend lozenges – Ray and I spent half of September and October sick with colds, which was a total bummer. We’ve both found that Fisherman’s Friend lozenges are the best (and super cheap)!! Warning – They taste entirely like menthol, so for some people they can be very intense.

faves-3Leopard shoes– A true essential in my autumn wardrobe!

Lularoe black leggings – I was skeptical about Lularoe (being a multi-level marketing type company), but I was in desperate need of new black leggings, and decided to give them a try. These leggings are truly wonderful. They’re soft, stretchy, opaque, and extremely comfortable!

Television
ww-lc
Luke Cage – Excellent! Because Ray is a nerd extraordinaire, we’re big into the Marvel Universe Netflix original shows. Jessica Jones is my favorite, but Luke Cage is a close second. Luke Cage is a man with super strength + impenetrable skin caused by a sabotaged experiment while he was wrongfully imprisoned.

wwWestworld –  HBO’s Westworld is about a futuristic western-themed amusement park of the same name, occupied by  androids referred to as “hosts”. Westworld caters to high-paying visitors  who come to experience the park, without fear of retaliation from the hosts. IE – You can shoot an android with no consequences. The show is based off a Michael Crichton novel. It’s soooooooo good!

ww-sienfeldSeinfeld – Ray and I have been watching through Seinfeld for the past few months. I remember watching episodes here and there in the 90’s, but this is the first time either of us have watched through the seasons. It’s hilarious to see how many issues on Seinfeld are almost completely irrelevant 20 years later (ie- long distance phone calls, writing checks, etc.)

Podcasts:
I’ve been really into true crime podcast lately and these are two I’ve been especially enjoying.

Criminal – A new crime or crime-related topic is discussed in each episode. This podcast is very well researched and the episodes cover a multitude of topics.

In The Dark – In The Dark is a podcast that explores a Minnesota abduction that took place in 1989 and was only recently solved.

Truthfully, the last 2 months have been extremely busy, stressful, and overwhelming for me. If I wasn’t working or sleeping (or being sick) I was probably zoning out on Netflix. Hoping the rest of the year is a little more fun and relaxing!

10 Favorite Scary Movies

night-of-the-livingWith Halloween earlier this week, I thought it would be fun to share a list of mine and Ray’s favorite scary movies! I actually wouldn’t consider myself a horror movie lover. I don’t want to watch anything too scary and I certainly don’t want to watch anything too disturbing… but scary in small doses can be really fun!
Time to put on your pajamas and pop some popcorn! Here’s a list of our 10 Favorite Scary Movies:

1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) – I was so legitimately scared the first time I saw this one… and I was 19.

2. Carrie (1976) – A true classic!

3. Carnival of Souls (1962) – One of the first movies Ray and I ever watched together. The pacing is really slow, which makes the whole movie that much creepier.

4. Slither (2006) – I love the different take on this monster movie! It’s also really funny!

5. Trick ‘r Treat (2007) – A perfect modern Halloween movie with a good mix of horror and humor!

6. Friday the 13th (1980) – Another movie that legitimately still scares me, even after viewing it multiple times.

7. Freaks (1932) – Possibly the creepiest of the list!

8. Alien (1979) – Even though Alien isn’t super scary, Ray says it always makes him think about Halloween!

9. Night of the Living Dead (1968) – “They’re coming for you, Barbara!” If you only watch one movie on this list, make it Night of the Living Dead!

10. Evil Dead (1981) – Ray loves this one! He’s also been loving the Starz show, Ash vs. the Evil Dead.

Runner Up – Netflix original Stranger Things, which isn’t a movie, but it’s so good I had to add it anyway. What are your favorite go-to scary movies?!
