March 2017 Favorites

I think my favorites for this month are more like SUPER favorites! Let me know what your favorite things have been lately!!
Daylight Savings – I LOVE longer days and the sun shining well after 7pm! I love being able to walk around my favorite lake into the evening hours without it being too dark.

Spring Blooms – Spring is here, and in Florida it doesn’t last long, so I’m trying to soak it up! We’ve had so many beautiful flowers pop up this month!

Natalie’s Juice – Ray and I both love this juice! It’s local to Florida, contains minimal ingredients (most flavors contain just 1!), and is truly delicious!

Gateway City Craft Beer & Wine Festival – A few weeks ago was the second annual Gateway City Craft Beer and Wine Festival. Ray and I went with a few friends and had such a great time! We tried countless (and many locally brewed) beers, sampled wine, visited with friends, enjoyed the beautiful weather, and got a little tipsy! It was such a successful event!

Go Go Geisha – The new favorite pink polish. Perfect for Spring!

S-Town – S-Town in a new podcast by the producers of This American Life and Serial. Rather than releasing 1 episode a week, S-Town went the way of Netflix and released the entire season at once. It’s perfect for binge listening! I simply cannot say enough good things about this podcast. S-town is a beautiful portrait of John McLemore, his “shit town”, and the strange south and I highly suggest you immediately download it.

Missing Richard Simmons – While Missing Richard Simmons is very different from S-Town, it’s equally as intriguing. This podcast explores fitness icon, Richard Simmons, and his mysterious and sudden absence from the public eye.

January 2017 Favorites

Here are a few things i loved in January 2017!

  • So Delicious Coconut Creamer – I decided to try out some healthier coffee creamers this year. I mean, there’s still sugar in this creamer, but a lot less weird-o chemicals. The french vanilla and slight coconut flavor is perfect!
  • Blood Oranges – A constant winter favorite for me! I’m so #blessed to live in Florida where the citrus is abundant and delicious. IF you’ve never had a blood orange, they taste like a cross between an orange and a cherry.
  • Bunny Slippers – I’m a slipper girl. We live in an old house with wood floors and in the winter, slippers save my life! Ray bought these for me for Christmas and I love them!
  • Bergamont Waters Candle from B&BW –  My mom gifted me this candle for Christmas and it’s my new favorite!
  • Copper Bathroom Sink Faucet – Isn’t this beautiful? We found this perfect copper faucet on Amazon that goes perfectly in our downstairs bathroom. I have a few posts in the works discussing some of our recent and future home renovations.
  • My favorite Murder – MFM is my new favorite podcast! 2 female comedians talking about murder and true crime! It’s so good and there are 50+ episode to binge on!

  • Up and Vanished – Another favorite true crime podcast. Up and Vanished focuses on a cold case of a missing woman out of Ocilla, GA. It’s very southern, very small-town, very mysterious!
  • The OA – This Netflix original is hard to explain, but it it’s excellent. A young woman is found after being missing for years under very mysterious circumstances.

September & October 2016 Favorites

Taking a moment today to share a few things I’ve been loving recently.
faves-2Rtic water bottle (and the generic Walmart version as well)
Taking a  – A few months ago Ray mentioned that he would probably drink more water if he had a cup that would keep it cold. I immediately ordered him an Rtic cup and he’s used it every day since it arrived. I bought one for myself a few weeks later! These cups are great!

faves-1Fisherman’s Friend lozenges – Ray and I spent half of September and October sick with colds, which was a total bummer. We’ve both found that Fisherman’s Friend lozenges are the best (and super cheap)!! Warning – They taste entirely like menthol, so for some people they can be very intense.

faves-3Leopard shoes– A true essential in my autumn wardrobe!

Lularoe black leggings – I was skeptical about Lularoe (being a multi-level marketing type company), but I was in desperate need of new black leggings, and decided to give them a try. These leggings are truly wonderful. They’re soft, stretchy, opaque, and extremely comfortable!

Television
ww-lc
Luke Cage – Excellent! Because Ray is a nerd extraordinaire, we’re big into the Marvel Universe Netflix original shows. Jessica Jones is my favorite, but Luke Cage is a close second. Luke Cage is a man with super strength + impenetrable skin caused by a sabotaged experiment while he was wrongfully imprisoned.

wwWestworld –  HBO’s Westworld is about a futuristic western-themed amusement park of the same name, occupied by  androids referred to as “hosts”. Westworld caters to high-paying visitors  who come to experience the park, without fear of retaliation from the hosts. IE – You can shoot an android with no consequences. The show is based off a Michael Crichton novel. It’s soooooooo good!

ww-sienfeldSeinfeld – Ray and I have been watching through Seinfeld for the past few months. I remember watching episodes here and there in the 90’s, but this is the first time either of us have watched through the seasons. It’s hilarious to see how many issues on Seinfeld are almost completely irrelevant 20 years later (ie- long distance phone calls, writing checks, etc.)

Podcasts:
I’ve been really into true crime podcast lately and these are two I’ve been especially enjoying.

Criminal – A new crime or crime-related topic is discussed in each episode. This podcast is very well researched and the episodes cover a multitude of topics.

In The Dark – In The Dark is a podcast that explores a Minnesota abduction that took place in 1989 and was only recently solved.

Truthfully, the last 2 months have been extremely busy, stressful, and overwhelming for me. If I wasn’t working or sleeping (or being sick) I was probably zoning out on Netflix. Hoping the rest of the year is a little more fun and relaxing!

July and August 2016 Favorites

Here’s what I’ve been loving in July and the first part of August!
faves podcast1. Revisionist History Podcast by Malcolm Gladwell. Malcolm Gladwell is one of my favorite authors and his new podcast is a great way to experience his expertise without having to wait for his next book! favea HP2. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling. This is an obvious choice, especially if you know me. I’ve been a fan of the Harry Potter franchise since I read the first 3 books in 8th grade. In 2007 I was working at a Christian summer camp in Clinton, Mississippi. A small group of us went to Walmart at midnight to pick up Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It felt slightly rebellious, 1. because half of our staff was still religiously opposed to HP and 2. we probably weren’t supposed to be sneaking off to Walmart at midnight. 9 years later, we have a continuation!! It’s wonderfully magical and I suggest everyone pick up a copy as soon as possible.hedwig3. Ray’s Hedwig Costume. We attended a Harry Potter themed costume party on July 30th (Harry’s birthday) hosted by our good friends, Nathan and Kristi. Since I’m a true Slytherin, I went as a teenaged Bellatrix. For Ray, I made paper wigs and a beak to transform him into Hedwig. It took several hours, but I think the results turned out pretty good! (If I do say so myself, ha!) Look how cute he is!! faves peaches4. Peaches. It’s the height of peaches season and I’m taking full advantage of it. Living so close to Georgia and the Carolina’s ensures I will also be able to indulge in the sweetest, juiciest peaches in the states.tasha 25. Artist, Tasha Boucher. I found Tasha on Instagram and instantly fell in love with her style and aesthetic. Quirky illustrations get me every time! Game-of-Thrones-Season-6-HEADER6. Game of Thrones Season 5 & 6. GoT is one of the best shows of it’s time, but it feels like such a commitment to start a season, or in our case 2 seasons. Honestly though, these last 2 seasons were so wonderful I wish we hadn’t waited! Ray and I both really enjoyed GoT seasons 5 & 6!stranger-things7. Stranger Things. Stranger Things is a new Netflix original sci-fi series. If you haven’t heard much about it, don’t worry because you will soon! Stranger Things has received so much buzz and it’s only been out for a few weeks! The show takes place in the 80’s in Indiana and channels all our favorite 1980’s pop culture, a la E.T., The Goonies, ham radios, Dungeons & Dragons, etc. It’s awesome and you should watch it!

7. Poison and Wine by The Civil Wars. I’m the type of annoying person who absolutely listens to the same song 3214908 times in a row. Lately I’ve been really into Poison and Wine (and listening to it 3214908 times in a row), which is literally one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. I missed the Civil Wars hype a few years ago, but I’m really happy to be enjoying them now.

April 2016 Favorites

April has been over for some time now, but I still wanted to post my favorites! Here’s what I’ve been loving! IMG_1007

Ladylike by Essie – On the real, this color sort of makes my nails look a little off. It’s a beautiful color (and I keep wearing it over and over) but if you have a pinkish skin tone, know that your nails might end up looking bruised.
Turquoise and Caicos by Essie – This is such a beautiful color and perfect for the season!
IMG_1009

Pineapple – Ray and I have been eating pineapple all day and all night! It’s so sweet and cheap right now!IMG_1013

White Marshmallow ear buds – I’m still loving marshmallow ear buds! These are the only ear buds I’ve ever had that don’t hurt or fall out of my ears.
IMG_1014East of Eden by John Steinbeck – East of Eden was my April book club book, and while it was a requirement for me to read, I loved it immensely. East of Eden is now one of my favorite books and I want to encourage everyone to read it!

Not Pictured / Multimedia:
The Challenge – The Challenge (formerly referred to as Real World vs. Road Rules) is near and dear to my heart because I’ve literally been watching for over 10 years. I recently discovered that The Challenge has seasons 21-27 available on Hulu! Ray and I watched so many episodes in the past few months! If you’ve never seen it (or haven’t watched any recent seasons) you should give it a shot! #CTforever
Ghostwriter– Another favorite from my past! Ghostwriter originally aired in the early 90’s on PBS and I watched it every Sunday morning. It’s about a group of kids in Brooklyn who solve mysteries (and promote literacy!) with the helps of a ghost. Ray is 100% embarrassed for me, but I STILL love Ghostwriter!
