Green Smoothie

green smoothie 1I’ve been drinking green smoothies for several years now. If you’re not familiar with green smoothies, they’re basically regular smoothies but with greens (usually spinach) added. Green smoothies are generally okay tasting, but not mind blowingly delicious. Well, this new one I’ve been making is REALLY good. Here’s what you need:
1 banana (frozen or not)
1 1/2 handfuls of strawberries
1 1/2 handfuls of fresh spinach
a splash of milk (or almond milk)green smoothie 2Then, blend for several minutes! I’ve added frozen blueberries before and it’s pretty delicious as well. I generally add water or fruit juice instead of milk, but it really works in this drink.

    I can’t wait for it to be warm here so I can start making smoothies again. My favorite after doing the smoothie thing for a couple summers in a row now is always Peach/Pineapple. Frozen peaches with frozen pineapple and if you have some high pulp orange juice to throw in, even better! And spinach too, of course. I always add chia seeds to mine too cause I need the hydrating boost they give. If I use water instead of juice, I always use agave. It cuts the blandness that water can give. Oh, I really notice a yummy difference when I started freezing the spinach. It seems to blend the flavors a little better.
