Growing up, my mom would always make apple butter during the holidays… and believe me, it was always delicious. Today I’m sharing her recipe… and it’s kind of a big deal because I like to keep special recipes like this all to myself. Be proud!
For this recipe you’ll need about 25 ounces of unsweetened apple sauce (homemade or store bought is fine), 1/2 cup sugar, 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. allspice, 1/8 tsp. ginger and 1/8 tsp. ground clove (do not use whole clove unless you plan on grating it with a microplane).
Mix all the ingredients together, throw it in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and let it simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes. Take this time to enjoy the ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE Christmas-y scent. Seriously, simmering apple butter is one of the best smells in the whole world. Afterward, let it cool. If you want, you can blend it for a few seconds in a blender to give it a smoother texture. I, personally, do not do this, as I prefer the thicker applesauce-like texture. Spread it on biscuits, toast, cinnamon bread, etc. I promise this will not disappoint. What are some of your favorite holiday recipes?
Hello everyone! We just wanted to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving! We spent the day with family and are now relaxing at home. It’s been wonderful. We debated on going and braving the stores tonight, but decided on staying home, drinking cider and shopping online.
This past weekend was really busy for AlliRay. Friday night we helped with the annual Trunk or Treat in downtown Lake City. It was incredible fun and successful. Ray and I spent most of our time helping with the hayride around the lake, which was absolutely perfect for us because one of our favorite past times is to drive around that very lake.
Saturday, we went to a Halloween Party and played True American. If you watch New Girl, you might be familiar with the game True American. We waited until the last minute for costumes so I ended up being Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Ray went as a khaki scout from Moonrise Kingdom. We ended up having a lot of fun playing the game and spending quality time with some of our good friends.
Have you, or do you plan on attending any Halloween Parties? What will you be dressing as?
