He hugs me in the middle of the night.
He makes delicious meatloaf.
He introduces me to weird-o tv shows I never would have watched on my own. Think Firefly and Battlestar Galactica.
He wears cowboy shirts. And cowboy boots.
He took me to New Orleans for our honeymoon even when everyone told us we should just go to the mountains (which would have been soooo boring for us).
He tells me when to stop being a fruitcake. Not that I ever am. Ahem.
I love him. And his floppy hair. And his beard. And his green eyes.
I love that he loves me because I can be pretty unlovable at times. I love him more and more every single day.
Also, I know this is like the mushiest blog on the internet and for that I am sorry. 😉
This weekend we had really good luck thrifting! We woke up early and went to the flea market, which I almost never enjoy, but Ray found some mic stands for the studio at a great price. We also bought an antique climbing rose bush for Ray’s mom from the plant guy (who might be Rick Moranis). From there, we went to starbucks for fuel and continued on to various thrift stores where we found a vegetable themed crewel embroidery and a vintage drinking glass, a fire king mug and an impostor pyrex mug.
Goodwill was where we really hit the jackpot. So many good books and plays. And hello vintage thermos collection!
The pink thermos was actually purchased a few weeks ago but I thought it would be pretty in this photo.
Over the last year we’ve had a lot of luck finding vintage and unique dishes. Before moving into Big Brown I only owned 4 bowls and 4 mugs. I would only ever use paper plates. Ray actually had lots of dishes but most of them were, well… real ugly. Think black octagon plates, bowls and cups. Ugly, right? Also, super hard to clean.
Here are some cute cups and mugs we’ve thrifted over the last few months:
