December 2015 Favorites

December was a strange and busy month for us. You probably noticed a lack in posting, and it was absolutely due to the busy-ness of the season. I keep a running list on my phone of my monthly favorites so I don’t forget anything. When I went back to check December it was super short and a little lack luster. I’m sure this was a result of a busy, event-filled month. I thought about not posting, but then remembered that favorites posts are some of my favorite to read… even when they’re short and lack luster. So, I decided to post! Here are my December 2015 favorites:IMG_0839IMG_0836IMG_0847IMG_5352 -Pink lady apples – For the past several years I’ve been strictly a gala apple girl. I’ve had allergic reactions to other variety of apples, but gala always did me well. In November I tried pink lady apples to see if I could eat them. Not only did they not cause an allergic reaction, I discovered they were DELICIOUS!!
– Pink and blue scarf from Old Navy. Keeping me warm and cute all at the same time.
-Christmas cacti – At the beginning of the month my company threw a client Christmas party. As party favors, I ordered beautiful Christmas cacti from a local nursery – Nobels Greenhouse and Nursery from Live Oak, FL. Our clients loved them and I was able to take a few of the leftovers home! They’re so beautiful!
– Coffee Coolers from Ellianos – These are in no way healthy for you… but they sure are delicious! December had a lot of late nights, early mornings, and long works days so I made many visits to Ellianos!
– Santa Cat- No explanation needed.

-Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Anything I want to say about the Force Awakens has already been said. It was so so so good. Even if you’re not really into Star Wars you should see it. Best movie of the year!
-Heck Ya the Halls – I’m not a huge Christmas music fan, but this album is wonderful! Their versions of We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Auld Lang Syne are some of the best I’ve heard! The album is available for listening on Spotify or you can download it from Noisetrade.

– Making a Murderer- Making a Murderer is a documentary series that debuted on Netflix in December. It follows Steven Avery, a man who was imprisoned for sexual assault and attempted murder, who was later proved innocent and released from prison, only to a few years later be accused of the rape and murder of another woman. There is a lot of shady police work, forced confessions, planted evidence, etc.

What did you love during December? What are you loving now?

September 2015 Favorites

5– Why Not Me by Mindy Kaling – I came home last week to find that Ray ordered the newest book by Mindy Kaling for me! I read her first book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me, this summer. She’s hilarious and even though I’m only three quarters of the way through Why Not Me, I highly recommend both of her books.

snake plant– Snake Plant – Three weeks ago Ray, Brie, and I traveled to Live Oak to participate in Flea Across Florida, which is essentially a really big yard sale across the state of Florida. We made one stop, picked up a snake plant and a pocket knife, and then it promptly started pouring. We had a snake plant in the past, but Black Cat was forever trying to eat it. So far he’s left this one alone.2– New Shoes – Guys, check out my new (but slightly used because I bought them off ebay) Tory Burch Revas! I love them and I love that I didn’t have to pay $230 for them!
3– Trader Joe’s cold brew coffee concentrate – I’m forever on the hunt for the perfect at-home iced coffee. This is mostly because I don’t have the funds or time to frequent a coffee shop every morning but I NEED the coffee. The Trader Joe’s concentrate is perfect for my current morning routine because all I have to do is pour some over ice, add a little milk or water, and pour in some creamer. Which brings me to my next favorite…

-Star Wars Coffee Creamer – On the real, there is no difference in taste or flavor. However, I love the design and Star Wars appreciation happening here.4– Thieves cleaner – I love this natural all purpose cleaner made with thieves oil. Not only does it smell like Christmas, I can clean and sanitize every surface in my house with just one cleaner.
tumblr_m1hzxpFESF1qmw273o1_500– Gossip Girl – This is no surprise to anyone to who reads this blog, follows me on twitter, is my friend on facebook, or talks to me in real life.  It’s all I’ve been talking about for weeks! In fact, Gossip Girl was in my favorites last month as well!  I finished the series this month and couldn’t be more obsessed. I’m not sure why I didn’t watch the series earlier, as I read a lot of the Gossip Girl books in middle school and high school. #chuckandblairforever

What were your favorites in September?

August 2015 Favorites

august 2august 1GG– Mint Limeade from Sonic. You know when you’re really in the mood for a refreshing mojito but it’s 11:00am on a Tuesday and you’re running errands for work? Mint Limeade is for you. It’s lime-y, minty, refreshing, and not too sweet. I’m obsessed. My sister is obsessed. My mom. My dad. My friends. It’s the best!

– Black Heels to Tractor Wheels by Ree Drummond. I must confess, this is my second time reading this. My third, if you count the blog installments Ree posted on The Pioneer Woman before her book was published. It’s funny, romantic, and an easy read. Sometimes I want to sit in a bath and read something familiar, Black Heels to Tractor Wheels is perfect for those times.

-Gossip Girl. I read the books in middle school, but I’ve just recently started watching the show. I was looking for something fun to watching on Netflix during my lunch break, and GG was the perfect pick. #chuckbassforever

– Ryan Adams covering T-Swift. Guys, you know I know love Taylor Swift. (and everyone else in America. Have you seen her stage guests at her recent world tour?) You also should know I love Ryan Adams. I mean, the only CD I had in my car for the entire year of 2005 was Heartbreaker. Ryan Adams announced a few weeks ago that he will be covering T-Swift’s 1989 album and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Here are a few clips he’s been posting on twitter.

July Favorites

July was a wild, fast, and stressful month. It seemed like most evenings were occupied by Infinity Con prep which included everything from scheduling, creating policies, artwork, and sending emails to physical work including moving tables and chairs, setting up pipes and drapes, making table displays, etc. When I think about my favorites for July, I can only think of people – because if it wasn’t for them, I might not have survived July.IMG_0450 1. Ray – I know this is obvious, but Ray is my #1 favorite of all time. I had several dramatic cry sessions during July and Ray was always kind, understanding, and took time to comfort me, even when he was equally stressed out. Guys, he’s just a really great husband.photo 1 (8) 2. Brie – Guys, I just can’t survive without my sister. She saves my life and always talks me out of being a crazy person, which can be my natural tendency. She also took care of Black Cat while we were at the beach last weekend!kyle 3. Kyle – If it wasn’t for Kyle, I probably wouldn’t have had an art booth at Infinity Con. Not only because he lets me use all his art supplies, but also because he pushes and inspires me to be better with my art. He also never judges me for my Chasteen’s lunch obsession.n and d(this hilarious photo is from the Lake City Today facebook page)
4. David and Nina – After countless planning sessions, meetings, emails, chats, roadtrips, and promotional events I can’t even believe the four of us are all still alive. These two were in the thick of stress and craziness with us and we wouldn’t have it any other way.jp and lp(I stole this picture from LP’s facebook page)
5. Jonny and Leanne – I love our friendship with Jonny and Leanne. Jonny and Ray have been friends since they were teens and Leanne and I were roommates – all before any of us were married. J + L have been so incredibly loving and encouraging over the last month, but also over the last year with Ray being sick and in the hospital so much. Leanne wrote our Infinity Con press release, manned the panel room, ran errands, and helped with setup and tare down during the Con. Jonny helped with flooring, setup, dug and covered up a ditch, helped with parking, and security. Jonny also mowed our grass, and if you read about our lawn woes, you know that’s a pretty big deal. 😉
6. TJ, Laura, Mike, Nate, Patrick, Lacey, Steve, Jeh, Tristan, my parents, Ray’s parents, Nina’s parents, David’s parents, Brad, Mr. Boozer the Fire Chief, Kenny, Dale, Katie, Chris, Leann, Emily, Blair, Brie, Kristi, Marilyn, Josh, Tammy, Tim – and probably 20-30 other I forgot. These guys were more amazing for words! Also, everyone who attended Infinity Con!
Thanks for being awesome and making mine and Ray’s month a little better!

June Favorites 2015

Girly things:faves 3faves 41. Blueberry by Barry M
2. Good Morning Hope by Essie
3. Tassel Necklace from Bauble Bar – Actually, my first bauble bar purchase! I’ve been looking for a gold tassel necklace since last fall and I finally found the perfect one.

Food:
favesfaves 2 4. Summer fruits – This particular bowel includes strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, pineapple, and peaches.
5. Lucky’s grind-it-yourself honey roasted peanut butter – Guys, I’m willing to drive 45 minutes just to get this peanut butter. I know this photo is kind of disgusting looking, but I promise it’s delicious.

Books:

To me, summer is for easy reading.
faves 5faves 66. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling – I’m late to the game, I know. I’ve loved Mindy Kaling since season 2 of The Office (when she started having a speaking role, haha) and her book has been on my to-read list for years! I definitely recommend Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me. Mindy has a new book, Why Not Me, coming out in September and I can’t wait to read that one!
7. Paper Towns by John Green – I’ve just started this one, but I’m really liking it!

TV Shows:
8. Wayward Pines – One of our new favorite shows! This series is based off the Wayward Pines novels by Blake Crouch. It comes on Fox, but we’ve been watching it through Hulu Plus. I’ve already said this on facebook, but Wayward Pines is sort of like if LOST and Twin Peaks had a baby.
9. Orange is the New Black season 3 – I know this show is pretty raunchy. Also, terrifying (because hello, prison). But, OITNB is so well written and produced. I love that you get a peak into the characters life before they were behind bars. It humanizes the inmates by showing their past abuse, family life, mistakes, etc.

Movies:
10. Lost World – I know there have been mixed reviews about this one. Even my own sister (my flesh and blood!) didn’t love Lost World. But, I sure did! #chrisprattforlife

Please, please tell me all your favorite things from the month of June!!
