January 2017 Favorites

Here are a few things i loved in January 2017!

  • So Delicious Coconut Creamer – I decided to try out some healthier coffee creamers this year. I mean, there’s still sugar in this creamer, but a lot less weird-o chemicals. The french vanilla and slight coconut flavor is perfect!
  • Blood Oranges – A constant winter favorite for me! I’m so #blessed to live in Florida where the citrus is abundant and delicious. IF you’ve never had a blood orange, they taste like a cross between an orange and a cherry.
  • Bunny Slippers – I’m a slipper girl. We live in an old house with wood floors and in the winter, slippers save my life! Ray bought these for me for Christmas and I love them!
  • Bergamont Waters Candle from B&BW –  My mom gifted me this candle for Christmas and it’s my new favorite!
  • Copper Bathroom Sink Faucet – Isn’t this beautiful? We found this perfect copper faucet on Amazon that goes perfectly in our downstairs bathroom. I have a few posts in the works discussing some of our recent and future home renovations.
  • My favorite Murder – MFM is my new favorite podcast! 2 female comedians talking about murder and true crime! It’s so good and there are 50+ episode to binge on!

  • Up and Vanished – Another favorite true crime podcast. Up and Vanished focuses on a cold case of a missing woman out of Ocilla, GA. It’s very southern, very small-town, very mysterious!
  • The OA – This Netflix original is hard to explain, but it it’s excellent. A young woman is found after being missing for years under very mysterious circumstances.

What have you been loving recently?

Around Big Brown

After being off for a month for his surgery, Ray went back to last week! It’s an adjustment for sure, but it’s nice to be back in a “normal” routine. Bits and pieces of Christmas are still around, but at least they’re all in one place ready to be put upstairs. Our sun room is becoming a plant palooza and we love it so much. We have plans to build more shelves in our sun room for plants and a new home for our records in the living room. A house is always a work in progress, am I right?IMG_9990IMG_9991IMG_9992IMG_9995IMG_9999

2013 resolutions and goals

nye - 9One new years eve my friends and I went to Falling Creek, a hundred year old wooden church, wrote out our resolutions, and hid them in the walls. Why did we do that? I really don’t know, but it was kind of magical and I will never forget it. Here are my resolutions and goals for 2013:

1. Be more Christ like. Show more compassion. Love people, even when they don’t love me back. Be patient (!!!). Be still. Be thankful. Be less entitled. These are the most important ones, obviously.
2. Set aside specific time everyday for Ray and I to be together. Our schedules are so different. Like drastically different. With me working 40 hours a week + at least one weekend a month, Ray having various studio sessions during the week and doing work with our church, small groups, show meeting, etc. we get pretty busy. I want to make sure the time we’re able to spend together just as a couple is quality time.
3. Take a vacation. A real one and not to the beach.
4. Drink more water. Guys, I went for years only drinking water. We’ve actually already started implementing this one. Yay, go alliray!
5. Have a really good anniversary. Last year, our first anniversary, wasn’t so awesome. Ray had a SUPER stressful job that didn’t allow him to take time off + other obligations and we weren’t really able to have much of a celebration.
6. Make this blog more awesome!
7. Spend more time working on artistic projects. I already have a few really cool opportunities for this in 2013!

What are some of your goals/resolutions for 2013?
